Which Windows Wireless Configuration Instructions Should I Use?

Windows Wireless Client

Note: The Windows Wireless client is recommended for UI Wireless access on Windows Vista computers. On Windows XP computers, the Windows Wireless Client caches your Hawk ID and password and requires some additional steps change your Hawk ID password in the configuration when your Hawk ID password changes.

Intel PROSet/Centrino

If you have the Intel PROSet software or a Centrino laptop, you can use the Intel PROSet instructions to connect to the UI Wireless network.

To check if you have the Intel PROSet software installed, click Start > All Programs and look for Intel PROSet Wireless in the list of programs.

If you are not sure if you have an Intel Centrino laptop, which includes the Intel PROSet software, look for the Intel Centrino logo on the your laptop.

Intel PROSet driver pack updates are available for the 2100 and 2200 cards here.

Cisco Secure Services Client Software

If you are a University of Iowa student, faculty, or staff member and do not have the Intel PROSet software on your laptop, you can use the Cisco Secure Services client software (formerly known as Meetinghouse AEGIS) to connect to the UI Wireless network. See the Cisco Secure Services Installation instructions to download and install the pre configured software.
