Cisco Wireless Card Access to UI Wireless
The Cisco Aironet Client Utility software is no longer compatible with the UI Wireless network's authentication protocol. If you are using a Cisco wireless card, you can download and use the AEGIS client to access the UI Wireless network instead.
Why is the Cisco Aironet Client Utility No Longer Supported?
Cisco uses either the TTLS or LEAP authentication protocol, both of which are no longer supported on the UI Wireless network. The UI Wireless network uses the PEAP authentication protocol, which has addressed the security risks of LEAP. Cisco has not updated their software to support PEAP, so you will need to configure the Aironet Client Utility to allow another application to manage your wireless settings, then download and install the AEGIS software to access the UI Wireless network.
To configure the Aironet Client Utility to use another application:
-
Open the Aironet Client Utility through Start > All Programs > Cisco Systems , or right click the Aironet icon in the bottom right hand corner of your task bar and select Launch Aironet Client Utility.

-
On the Aironet Client Utility window, click the Select Profile icon.
-
On the Select Profile window, chose Use Another Application to Configure My Wireless Settings and click the OK button.

-
Close the Aironet Client Utility window.
- Follow the AEGIS installation instructions to install the AEGIS client software.
