Select Your Centrino Pro/Wireless Card

There are currently two internal wireless card possibilities in your Centrino laptop, and they both work with the UI Wireless network.  The first card to be introduced into Centrino laptops was the Pro/Wireless 2100 which conforms to the 802.11b wireless standard.  The newest card from Intel that replaces the Pro/Wireless 2100 is the Pro/Wireless 2200BG network card, which conforms to the 802.11g wireless protocol and is being shipped in all new Centrino laptops.  It is important to understand which card you have before installing the software on this page, if you install the wrong drivers/software the card won't work properly.

The first step is figuring out which Centrino PRO/Wireless card you have:

  1. First you need to open the device manager located in the control panel, click on Start then Control Panel. In the upper left click on "switch to classic view" (if it says "switch to category view" disregard this). Double click on the System icon.

  2. Click the Hardware tab and then click the Device Manager button.

  3. When the device manager is open, click the plus sign next to Network Adapters and select the Intel Pro Wireless card shown to the right.

If you have a PRO/Wireless 2100 card you will see this in your Device Manager.  Click here to continue.
