Configuring a Windows Computer for UI Wireless - Active Directory Domain
UI Wireless uses the PEAP protocol to give our users a greater level of security. The University has licensed the AEGIS client software that will allow many cards to access our network and allow domain users to log into their computers over wireless. The AEGIS software is available through the ITS Software Download site. The software installer contains all of the settings needed to access our network; all you need to do is download and run the installer. Before you begin, make sure your wireless card is inserted and that the drivers are properly installed.
Please Note: The AEGIS client will disable the Windows wireless connection management software. If you have other networks configured on your computer, you will need to set up those networks in the AEGIS client. Instructions for this are available on the AEGIS Client Instructions page in the "Configuring the AEGIS Client to Access Non-UI Wireless Networks (Including Home Networks)" section.
IMPORTANT: Remove all previous versions of the AEGIS Client software before installing a new version. If you do not remove the previous version, the install program will uninstall the program for you, but you will have to reboot and install the program again.
-
After you have downloaded the AEGIS installer, double click the program to run it.
-
A screen titled AEGIS Wireless Client will appear with general information. Click Extract.
- The installer will display a welcome screen, click Next to continue.

- You will then be presented with a license agreement, select Accept and click Next to continue.

- The installer is now ready to transfer the files. Click Next to perform the installation. This step may take a few minutes depending on your system.

- When the install is completed, you will be prompted to restart your system. Make sure you have no unsaved work open and click Yes.

- After your computer has restarted, log into your computer with your Hawk ID and password. You'll see a screen appear which will show the status of the wireless authentication. Once that is complete, windows will then authenticate you with active directory and load your desktop and network drives.
- You should see a small icon in on your system tray
this icon will turn blue when you are not connected to any network, yellow when it is in the process of connecting and green when you are fully connected. When the icon turns green, you should be able to access the internet.
