Installing the Remedy Client in Windows Vista

ITS has tested and found several programs thus far that do not install correctly by default in Windows Vista. With a little tweaking, however, they can install and run just fine. The Remedy Client 6.3 is one such program. Below are step by step instructions for installing the Remedy Client on your Windows Vista machine.

  1. Download the Remedy Client from the following link (domain\HawkID authentication required) to your desktop (or some other easily accessible location).
  2. Locate the Remedy installer and Right-click on the icon called User63.exe. From the menu that appears, chose the Properties option.
  3. Locate the Compatibility tab in the properties dialogue box and click it.

  1. On the compatibility tab, place a check mark in the box called Run this program in compatibility mode for: and in the pull down menu make sure it is set to Windows XP (Service Pack 2). Then click Apply and Ok.

  1. Now back at your desktop, right click on the icon called User63.exe again and choose Run As Administrator.

  1. Next an authorization box will appear, click Ok to continue.

  1. Next, you will see the Windows Vista User Account Control (UAC) kick in. Click Allow to allow the installation to continue.
  2. You'll see the Remedy installation screen appear. Click on the Extract button to get started.
  3. Once it's done extracting the installtion files, installation of the program will automatically occur. You may see a black command prompt window remain open for some time that looks like this:

  1. Once the black command prompt window has dissapeared, the Remedy Action Request system is installed on your computer. Check under your Start Menu then All Programs for an Action Request System group. You can launch the Remedy client from there.
