Obtaining the Symantec/Norton AntiVirus Installers for PC and Mac
Downloading the Symantec Installers from the ITS Software Download Center
The University of Iowa has a site license for Symantec AntiVirus Corporate Edition. The installer for Symantec AntiVirus can be downloaded at the ITS Software Download Center under the Heading "Antivirus Software". You will need your Hawk ID and password to enter the site. The installers for both the PC and Macintosh platforms are available. If you have a PC that meets the requirements below, you should download the Symantec AntiVirus Corporate Edition client for PC. If you have a Macintosh computer, you should download the Symantec Antivirus Corporate Edition client for Mac.* Once the installer file has been downloaded and saved on your hard drive, simply double click the file and the installation will begin.
*The system requirements for the Macintosh platform will depend on which Mac OS you are running. See the Macintosh Versions requirements below.
System Requirements for Installing Symantec AntiVirus for Windows and Mac
Windows Versions
Symantec AntiVirus Corporate Edition 10.1:
- Windows 2000, XP, or 2003
- Available in both 32 bit and 64 bit versions
- 64-bit version requires compatible hardware (AMD64 or Intel 64)
Symantec AntiVirus Corporate Edition 10.2:
- Windows Vista Home Basic, Home Premium, Business, Enterprise, and Ultimate Editions
- Available in both 32-bit and 64-bit versions
- 64-bit version requires compatible hardware (AMD64 or Intel 64)
Symantec AntiVirus 10 Corporate Edition for Macintosh (OS X):
- Mac OS X version 10.3 or later
- Macintosh PowerPC G3 or higher or Intel-based processor
- LiveUpdate needs to be updated to version 4.04 for full Leopard compatibility
Norton AntiVirus 10 for Macintosh (OS X):
- Mac OS X version 10.3 or 10.4
- Macintosh PowerPC G3 or higher processor
