Installing the Quick Menu & Auto Protect Preferences for SAV CE 10 for Mac:
By default, Symantec AntiVirus Corporate Edition 10 for Mac 10.3 & 10.4 does not install the Symantec Quick Menu in the top Finder bar. (The most recent version on the Help Desk web site for Mac OS 10.4.2 and above does, so there is no need to install this feature separately.) This can be problematic if you wish to change your Auto-Protect settings. In order to be able to change these settings and have access to the Symantec Quick Menu you must install a separate piece of software that is available from the ITS Software Download Site. Below are instructions for installing the Symantec Quick Menu.
- Download the install file from the ITS Software Services Download Site and locate it on your desktop. It will be called Symantec AutoProtect Prefs Installer.mpkg, double click it.
- The Welcome to the Symantec AutoProtect Preferences Installer will open. Click on the Continue button.
- Next you will see the Software License Agreement screen. Click Continue.
- A pop down box will appear making you chose to agree or disagree with the license. To continue installation, click Agree.
- Next it will ask you where you want to install the software. You should select the drive where you had Symantec AntiVirus originally installed and click Continue.
- Next you will get a screen asking you to actually start the installation. Click Install.
- You will be prompted to enter your administrator's credentials on the computer. Type in your password and click Ok.
- The software will go through its install process. When it is done, you will see a screen that tells you that the software was installed correctly. Click Close to continue.
- You should now see the Symantec Icon in the upper area of your Finder screen, next to the Internet Connect icon:
- From this menu you may access the Symantec AntiVirus AutoProtect Preferences and launch the program.
