Introducing Symantec AntiVirus Corporate Edition for Mac
Symantec has released a corporate edition version of their AntiVirus product for Mac OS 10 (OS 10.3 and above) - called Symantec AntiVirus 10. The previous antivirus software available was their consumer based product, Norton AntiVirus. ITS is making the switch to supporting the corporate edition product because the consumer based Norton AntiVirus may soon no longer be licensed for our use. Overall the new corporate edition product runs more smoothly than its predecessor. What follows is a small list of features for the new version of the antivirus software:
- The first noticeable difference is the main graphical user interface is much simpler:
- The Symantec Quick Menu for the top of the Finder is not installed by default. This feature can be installed by following these instructions.
- LiveUpdate has not been changed. LiveUpdate is still the same between the two versions.
- The actual scan window looks the same between the two versions.
- The Symantec Scheduler is still available in the corporate edition product but must be accessed by navigating to the Applications folder and running Symantec AntiVirus. The scheduler feature works the same as it did in Norton AntiVirus.
- Symantec AntiVirus Corporate Edition 10 for Mac is also affected by the Microsoft Word 2004 save error known issue.
