Installing Symantec AntiVirus Corporate Edition 10 for Mac

Before you begin following these instructions you may want to check the system requirements for Symantec AntiVirus CE 10 for Mac here. You will also want to make sure you have uninstalled your previous version of Norton AntiVirus for Mac. You may download Symantec AntiVirus Corporate Edition 10 at the ITS Software Download site .

  1. Once you have downloaded the software your browser should automatically mount the .dmg file and you should see the Symantec AntiVirus 10 CD screen appear. Double click on the Symantec AntiVirus Installer icon:

  1. Once you have started the installer, you will be greeted with the welcome screen. Click on the Continue button.
  2. Read through the important information that appears next and click Continue.
  3. Next read the license agreement and click Continue.
  4. A notification box will appear asking you to confirm whether or not you agree to the license agreement. Click Agree.
  5. The next screen will ask you to select a destination volume. Symantec AntiVirus 10 needs to be installed to the volume where your Mac OS is installed. Make sure that volume is highlighted and click Continue:

  1. On the next screen confirm that you are ready to install the software. Click the Upgrade button.
  2. You will be prompted to enter your administrator's credentials. Type them in and click Ok.
  3. A pop up notification will inform you that all software must be closed on the system. Click Continue Installation:

  1. A progress indicator will appear to let you know the status of the installation process. When it is done it will ask you to logout to finish the software installation. Click on the Logout button:

  1. Your computer will then log you out of your account. Log back in and you have completed installing Symantec AntiVirus Corporate Edition 10 on your system. You may wish to now run LiveUpdate to make sure you have the most current virus definitions. To run LiveUpdate use the Finder to navigate to your Applications folder and double click on Symantec AntiVirus. Click on the LiveUpdate button to update the program and your virus definitions.
  2. If you installed the version of SAV for Mac OS 10.3 or 10.4, you may wish to install the Symantec Quick Menu and AutoProtect Options.
