Installing Norton AntiVirus 7.0.2 for Mac OS 8.6-9.2
Note: Before installing Norton AntiVirus, make sure that you do not have any other virus programs installed. To check this, simply go to the Applications folder. If you have Virex go here for removal instructions.
- Extract the file NAV7OS8-9.sit to your desktop (using Stuffit Expander).
- Double-click on the NAV7OS8-9 folder.
- Double-click on Install Norton AntiVirus.
- Click Continue.
- Click Accept.
- Click Continue.
- Click Install.
- Click OK.
- At the next window, Choose Standard Protection and Scan All Known Formats.

- Click Set Preferences and Continue.
- Click Restart to restart your computer.
- To update Norton AntiVirus, choose the appropriate option below:
- Network Connection (i.e. Campus Network, cable modem, DSL)
- Modem Connection (i.e. UI Remote Access, AOL, etc

- Once your computer has restarted, double-click the Norton AntiVirus icon.

- Click the LiveUpdate icon.

- Choose Update Everything.
- If a restart was necessary, go back to the Norton AntiVirus program, click the LiveUpdate icon.
- Click Schedule Future Updates.
- Click New, type Weekly Update.
- Click any number in the Thursday column.

- Click Done.
- Close LiveUpdate (File>Quit).
- Once your computer has restarted, double-click the Norton AntiVirus icon.

- Whenever you want to update your virus definition or check for program updates, you should do this monthly at least, open Norton AntiVirus and click the LiveUpdate option.

- Choose Update Everything.
- Click OK, and restart if necessary.
If you would like to test the installation, you can use the EICAR test. This will test your antivirus software without putting your machine at risk
