Installing the Citrix Web Client for Windows PC

This article applys to the following Citrix/Virtual Desktop clients: mac_osx_small

Overview

The Citrix Web Client allows users of any Windows operating system to connect to Virtual Desktop applications. It is designed to work with the Virtual Desktop Web Interface, which allows you to launch applications and define settings. Using this arrangement is the easiest way to connect to Virtual Desktop applications since all of your application icons are automatically generated and all of your printers and drives are automatically mapped to the Virtual Desktop session.

When you browse to the Virtual Desktop Web Interface on a Windows PC, it will automatically detect whether you have the Citrix Web Client installed. If it does not detect that the web client is present, it will provide a link where the web client may be downloaded. This article outlines the steps involved in browsing to the Virtual Desktop Web Interface and installing the Citrix Web Client.

Installing the Citrix Web Client

  1. In Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox, browse to the Virtual Desktop Web Interface here: http://virtualdesktop.uiowa.edu

  2. Enter your HawkID credentials in the Log In box as shown and click the Log In button. (Be sure to specify your domain, if it is different than "IOWA".)
