Introduction to Information Technology
The core IT Curriculum takes place in one week and is taught in full day sessions, 8:30 – 4:30 with a lunch break. The course covers the basic elements necessary for a general understanding of Information Technology on the University of Iowa campus.
- Current PC Hardware
This content covers the basic components that are in a typical PC and Macintosh computer.
- Networking
This material explains the concepts behind sharing information between computers as well as introducing the infrastructure in place at the University of Iowa.
- Networked Applications
Network applications evaluates the various forms of software that utilize networking to function properly – i.e. e-mail, HTML, HTTP, FTP.
- Troubleshooting, Professionalism
The Core program explains the processes used to successfully troubleshoot computer issues and how to do so in a professional manner.
- Customer Service
This content covers how to work successfully with customers on campus.
- Windows XP and Vista
The Core curriculum gives a basic overview of the functions and capabilities of Windows XP and Vista.
