Available Student Services
Welcome to The University of Iowa! For your
convenience, we created a list of many of the services
available to students.
Hawk ID Services
All students are assigned a unique personal Hawk ID that is used
to access Hawk ID services. The following services are available to
students free of charge:
The Software Central web site provides information and access to
available software (free downloads, educational discounts, computer
labs and online).
ICON is the University’s set of course-related
web sites that instructors may use for posting
course content, grades, online
discussions, and more.
ISIS is the web portal for accessing student information and other
services including registering for classes and checking grades.
In the 25 campus ITCs (computer labs), you will find 1000+
computers with a full range of software, laser printers, scanners,
and DVD/CD-ROM drives/burners.
A University e-mail address is assigned to each student (e.g., janedoe@uiowa.edu). Students are REQUIRED to link an e-mail account
to their University e-mail address, so they can receive official
correspondence (if they choose not to request a free University
e-mail account).
Wireless Internet access is available
ina number of campus buildings and locations.

MyWeb is a web hosting service available to all UI students that
provides space for publishing individual, academic-related web sites.
Files@Iowa is web-based file storage
where students can upload, download,
and edit files from any location securely.
ResNet is a high-speed Internet access service provided in all
Residence Halls. One network connection is provided for each
resident.
SkillSoft provides online electronic access to over 2000 courses
and over 7,000 books.
