How to Connect to an iPrint Printer from a Macintosh Computer
Before you can connect to an iPrint printer, you must have downloaded and installed the ITC Printing Client software on your computer. If you have not yet done that, you can find the download and instructions here.
Once the ITC Printing Client software has been downloaded and installed on your Mac, you can connect to an iPrint printer.

How to Connect to an iPrint Printer on Mac OS 10.5
- Open System Preferences located in Applications.

- Click the Print & Fax icon.

- Click the “+”button to add a printer.

- Control-click (right-click) the Default icon at the top of the window and choose Customize Toolbar….

- Drag the Advanced icon into the toolbar.

- Configure the printer with the following settings:
- In the Type: drop down list, select Internet Printing Protocol (http)
- Enter the appropriate information in the Device, URL, Name, Location and Print Using fields.
- For URL enter http://iprint.its.uiowa.edu/printers/<printer name>.
- Select the desired printer name from the list of available iPrint printers.
Shown below is an example using Weeg-ITC-Main:
- Device = Another device
- URL = http://iprint.its.uiowa.edu/printers/Weeg-ITC-Main
- Name = Weeg-ITC-Main
- Location = Weeg-ITC-Main
- Print Using = HP LaserJet 4250

- Click the add button.
- If presented with the Installable Options window, modify the options as appropriate (optional tray, duplex unit…etc). Available printer options are listed on the list of available iPrint printers.

- Click the Continue button to finish connecting to the iPrint printer from your Mac.

After connecting to the iPrint printer, you can modify the printer options or print to an ITC Printer.
How to Connect to an iPrint Printer on Mac OS 10.4
- Open Printer Setup Utility located in Applications/Utilities.

- Click the add icon at the top of the window.

- On the Printer Browser window, hold down the Alt/Option key, click the More Printers… button, and select Advanced.

- Configure the printer with the following settings:
- In the Device: drop down list, select Internet Printing Protocol using HTTP.
- Select a desired printer from the list of available iPrint printers.
- Enter the appropriate information in the Device Name, Device URI, and Print Models fields.
Shown below is an example using Weeg-ITC-Main:
- Device Name = Weeg-ITC-Main
- Device URI = http://iprint.its.uiowa.edu/printers/Weeg-ITC-Main
- Printer Model = HP LaserJet 4250

- Click the Add button to finish connecting to the iPrint printer from your Mac.

After connecting to the iPrint printer, you can modify the printer options or print to an ITC Printer.
How to Connect to an iPrint Printer on Mac OS 10.3
Note: Because many of the iPrint printers have been installed after the release of Mac OSX 10.3, it is necessary to download additional drivers from HP. You will need to download and install HP_LaserJet-v5_7_1.dmg.
- Open Printer Setup Utility located in Applications/Utilities.

- Hold down the Alt/Option key and click the Add icon at the top of the window.

- Select Advanced from the drop down list.

- Configure the printer with the following settings:
- In the Device: drop down list, select Internet Printing Protocol using HTTP.
- Select a desired printer from the list of available iPrint printers.
- Enter the appropriate information in the Device Name, Device URI, and Print Models fields.
Shown below is an example using Weeg-ITC-Main:
- Device Name = Weeg-ITC-Main
- Device URI = http://iprint.its.uiowa.edu/printers/Weeg-ITC-Main
- Printer Model = HP LaserJet 4250

- Click the add button to finish connecting to the iPrint printer from your Mac.

After connecting to the iPrint printer, you can modify the printer options or print to an ITC Printer.
