10/100BaseT Configuration - Windows XP

1. To verify that your computer is connected to the network at 100 Mbps, open your control panel by clicking on Start and then Control Panel

2. Click on Network and Internet Connections

3. Click on Network Connections

4. Select your local area connection (LAN) by clicking on it.

5. On the left sidebar, click on View the status of this connection

6. The local area connection status window should open and provide you with information on your network connection. The speed should say "100.0 Mbps". If it does not, follow the directions below.

Close the connection status windows by clicking on Close

7. Right click on your local area connection and then left click on Properties.

8. Under the general tab, click on Configure.

9. The configuration window for your Ethernet card should appear, click on the Advanced tab, and then click on Media Type in the property window. In the Value drop down menu select Auto Select. This setting will allow your Ethernet card to determine the best rate of connection, which is 100 mbps.
