MyFiles Premium for Students

Mac OS 10.4 (Tiger) and 10.5 (Leopard) Access

  1. From the Finder, click Go then Connect to Server.

  2. Connect to Server

  3. Enter the URL for MyFiles Premium to access your personal SAFE space. The URL for MyFiles Premium uses the format shown below, replacing <xx> with the first two characters of your Hawk ID and <hawkid> with your full Hawk ID.

  4. https://myfiles.uiowa.edu/students/<xx>/<hawkid>

    For example:

    Hawk ID Network Path
    herky https://myfiles.uiowa.edu/students/he/herky
    juser https://myfiles.uiowa.edu/students/ju/juser

    Server Address

  5. To save the address for future connections, you can click the plus button (+) next to the Server Address field. Click Connect to continue.

    Favorite Servers

  6. Enter the domain you belong to in the Domain field, your Hawk ID in the Name field, and your Hawk ID password in the Password field. (If you are not sure which Active Directory domain you are part of, see the Look Up Your Hawk ID page.) Click OK to connect.

    Note:
ITS recommends that you do NOT check the Remember this password in my keychain box. Doing so has the potential to give access to your student files to anyone who has access to the computer from which you are connecting.

Leopard (10.5) Note: An issue with OS 10.5 Leopard has been identified where the authentication box appears twice. On the second appearance, simply click "OK". Do not retype your Domain, Hawk ID, or password.
  7. Authentication

Note: After correctly entering your information, your personal SAFE space will appear. Note that the address box contains the path to your folder. Your SAFE space may or may not contain any files, depending on whether you have ever used it before (for instance from the H: drive mapping in an ITC). You can now store files at this location and they will be available to you using the Connect to Server under the Go menu of the Finder.
