Superior Customer Service

Verizon has demonstated a clear goal of partnering with us. Verizon Wireless has awarded us with their "Enterprise Customer Technical Support" usually reserved for large corporate contracts. This bypasses standard customer service channels. At this time three University of Iowa people are authorized to call the Enterprise Team. Verizon Wireless is working to establish another support model for the entire University population.

Good Coverage Area (Locally and Nationally)

To send and receive e-mail using Verizon as your cellular phone carrier, you must be within their Wireless National Data Network.

The Gap
You can not send or receive e-mail between the west edge of Johnson County (just west of Oxford) and east Des Moines because there is no data coverage in that area. As of 9/1/2004, Verizon Wireless has stated that they are negotiating to close this gap.

While in this gap, you can still read and reply to e-mail that was already downloaded to your PDA phone (Smart Phone). E-mail will be sent as soon as you re-enter a data zone.

Compatibility with Our Preferred Model of Procurement Card Purchases

Originally requiring a paper PO due to the federal nature of the contract, our Verizon Wireless Major Account Manager recently figured out how to make our preferred model of procurement card purchases work.
