POP/IMAP
POP (Post Office Protocol) and IMAP (Internet Message Access Protocol) are standards based protocols for downloading or synchronizing your e-mail with a servers that support these protocols. The Blue and the Hawkmail server are enabled for POP/IMAP. Generally, a POP account downloads mail to your handheld device whereas IMAP leaves a copy on the server.
One major limitation of the POP/IMAP e-mail protocol is the handing of attachments. In order to forward an attachment, it must first be downloaded to the device and then resent from the device. ActiveSync eliminates this problem because all forwarded attachments are actually sent directly from the Hawkmail server.
See the basic IMAP and POP settings for Hawkmail and the basic IMAP and POP settings for Blue for more information.
