Accessing Hawkmail from Off Campus
There are several ways to access your Hawkmail from off campus.
Outlook Web Access (OWA)
OWA is web-based e-mail for Hawkmail. OWA can be used from any computer with an Internet connection (dial-up or high-speed access). Click here to use OWA to access Hawkmail.
E-mail Clients

Outlook 2003 or 2007 (Windows)
Outlook Anywhere (Outlook 2007) and RPC over HTTPs (Outlook 2003) are the recommended methods for accessing the Hawkmail server directly using Outlook on a Windows machine with a high-speed Internet connections. In order to use Outlook Anywhere or RPC over HTTPs, you must have Windows XP service pack 1 or later. Outlook Anywhere and RPC over HTTPs are not recommended for use with a dial-up Internet connection. Entourage 2004 (Mac)
You can use Entourage 2004 to access your Hawkmail e-mail account from off campus on a Macintosh machine. A high-speed Internet connection is recommended for this method of access. Note: You cannot access the LDAP directory from off campus using Entourage. You would need to use OWA to access the directory. Other E-mail Clients using IMAP or POP (Windows or Mac)
Any e-mail client that supports the IMAP or POP mail protocol can be used to access your Hawkmail, including Outlook 2003 and 2007, Eudora, Mozilla Thunderbird, MacMail, and others. This is the recommended method for accessing Hawkmail on a dial-up connection. Click here for instructions on setting up your Hawkmail account using IMAP or POP mail.
Remote Desktop
If your computer at work has the Windows XP Professional or Vista operating system, you can access it using Remote Desktop. Remote Desktop allows you to access your computer on campus and use it as if you were sitting in front of the actual computer. You can then launch Outlook on your remote computer to access your Hawkmail. To configure Remote Desktop, you must have administrator access to your workstation. A broadband connection such as DSL or a cable modem is highly recommended (not recommended for use with a dial-up Internet connection). Click here for directions on configuring Remote Desktop.
Virtual Desktop
