Laptop Wireless Options

Most new laptop computers come with built-in wireless adapters. Adapters must support the IEEE 802.11i security standard, which is also known as WPA2 enterprise. When purchasing a card, you should verify that it is WPA2 certified by the Wi-Fi Alliance. Most wireless wireless adapters manufactured in the last few years meet the above requirements.

Apple Airport

Wireless technology is built into most new Apple notebooks.  Here are the instructions for configuring Apple's airport card on the UI Wireless network.

Intel PROSet

The Intel Pro Wireless chipset comes with many notebooks; it is accompanied by the Intel Chipset. The latest card shipped from Intel is the Pro/Wireless 3945ABG which uses the 802.11g and the 802.11a protocol.
