Set Your Default Web Browser

If you have multiple Web browsers on your computer, you can specify which Web browser you want to open when you access the Internet.  Below are instructions for setting your default Web browser in Windows XP and Mac OS X.

Set Your Default Web Browser in Windows XP

  1. From the Start menu, access the Control Panel.  On the Control Panel window, switch to Classic View, if necessary, and choose Add or Remove Programs.

  2. On the Add or Remove Programs window, click on the Set Program Access and Defaults icon.

  3. On the Set Program Access and Defaults window, expand the Custom section by clicking on the down arrow.

  4. In the Choose a default Web browser: section, choose the Web browser you would like to be the default and click OK.
     

Set Your Default Web Browser in Mac OS X

  1. Launch the Safari Web browser and choose Preferences from the Safari menu.

  2. On the General view, choose the Web browser you would like to be the default from the Default Web Browser drop-down list.
