Verify You Have a CD Burner

To verify that your computer has a CD burner:

  1. Click on the Start menu, then select All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Information.

  2. The System Information dialogue box will open. On the left-hand side in the tree of options, click on the plus sign (+) next to Components. Then click once on CD-ROM. The information pertaining to your system's CD-ROM drive(s) will display. In the right side of the window, look at the Name line of information. If your CD drive is a writable drive, you will see CD-RW or DVD-RW.
