9/14/2006 - Beware of Fraudulent E-mails from Financial Institutions

A fraudulent e-mail claiming to come from the University of Iowa Community Credit Union is currently circulating asking users to take action or risk their account being suspended or closed. Many spoof e-mails such as this look very credible, including realistic logos and sent from e-mail addresses that look legitimate, but most financial institutions will never contact you to verify account information over e-mail or by telephone. We recommend you contact your financial institution directly if you have any questions about e-mails or phone calls you may receive from them asking for sensitive information.
