8/24/2006 - Help Desk Hours Update
The ITS Help Desk is open Monday through Thursday from 8AM to 8PM, Fridays from 8AM to 5PM, and Sundays from 5PM - 8PM. The Help Desk is closed on Saturdays. Special hours apply over holiday weekends and University recesses. More information about the Help Desk's hours, location, and contact information can be found here.
8/17/2006 - Dell Laptop Battery Recall
From Dell.com: "Dell has identified a potential issue associated with certain batteries sold with Dell Latitude™, Inspiron™, XPS™ and Dell Precision Mobile Workstation™ notebook computers. In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and other regulatory agencies, Dell is voluntarily recalling certain Dell-branded batteries with cells manufactured by Sony and offering free replacements for these batteries. Under rare conditions, it is possible for these batteries to overheat, which could pose a risk of fire." 8/16/2006 - Special Help Desk Hours for ResNet August 19-20
The ITS Help Desk will be providing on-site support for students in University Residence Halls on Saturday, August 19th from 9am - 7pm and Sunday, August 20th from 9am - 5pm. The Help Desk will also be available to assist with Hawk ID password and ResNet issues by telephone (384-HELP) during those times. There will be no walk-in hours for the Help Desk over the weekend. The Help Desk will resume regular hours on Monday, August 21st.
8/2/2006 - Webmail to be Updated on Tuesday, August 8
Webmail service from the Blue cluster will be unavailable from 6am-7am on Tuesday, August 8. You will not be able to log into Webmail during the outage. Incoming e-mail will be queued for delivery at the end of the outage. After the upgrade, you will continue to access Webmail (IMP) at http://webmail.uiowa.edu. Some of the new features that the upgrade to Webmail will offer include:
- Enhanced user interface
- Webmail menu on the left side of screen
- Play a sound on new mail
- Create stationery
- More customizable user options
