Adobe Reader v7.0.8 Vulnerability

A recent vulnerability has been discovered in Adobe Reader version 7.0.8 and all previous versions on of Adobe Reader for Windows, Mac, and Linux operating systems. A malicious user who successfully exploits these vulnerabilities could take control of the affected system.  See http://www.adobe.com/support/security/bulletins/apsb07-01.html for additional information about the vulnerability from Adobe.

Due to this issue, the ITS Security Office encourages users to upgrade to Adobe Reader 8.0. In addition to addressing this security issue, Adobe Reader 8.0 has numerous new features. Upgrade Adobe Reader

To upgrade, simply download the latest version of Adobe Reader from the Adobe Reader download web site: http://www.adobe.com/go/getreader.

If you are unable or do not wish to upgrade to version 8.0, Adobe has released an update to version 7.0.9 which addresses the vulnerability. See http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2_allversions.html and select version 7.0.9.

Adobe Reader/Windows Vista Compatibility Issue
